Paula Deen Network

Superfan TV logoSaffron Digital conceived Superfan TV as an OTT offering to allow fans to connect with celebrities more directly.

The business case was that it would enable the company to move up the value chain by developing content as well as delivering it.

The pilot project was the Paula Deen Network, and I worked on the Android app, which was built on their Vanilla platform.

The Guardian

I worked for The Guardian on developing version 3 of their app. It's now available in the Google Play Store, and has over a million downloads to date.

The app was an update of the previous version, rather than a rewrite. My responsibilities fell into three main areas: Analytics and Advertising; Look and Feel; and the Build System.

Saffron Digital Vanilla Platform

Saffron Digital were a subsidiary of HTC when I began to work with them in January 2013, but were subsequently acquired by Najafi Companies the following September.

The app I worked on was originally commissioned to be the video platform for the then upcoming HTC One smartphone. It was subsequentl rolled into the Vanilla platform, and has been used for a number of projects including the Carrefour Nolim service, KDDI Animepass and the Paula Deen Network.

McDonald's 2012 Champion Crew

Kempster partnered with Samsung to deliver an app for the crews manning McDonald's restaurants at the 2012 London Olympics. I was involved in the initial design and requirements capture phases.

Samsung Backstage

The Samsung Backstage website was developed by TME Solutions as a training solution to educate sales staff on the capabilities of the company's mobile devices. This was then ported onto the Galaxy tablets as a native app.

Wine Menu for Marcus Wareing

SERI were contracted to produce a wine menu on the Galaxy tablets for Marcus Wareing. I was asked to add a map to select for vintages by region, and add a set lunchtime menu.

Sky Plus Remote Control


The Sky+ set top box is Java powered, and this has the happy side effect of allowing parts of the functionality on a PC for testing.

BlackCat Numbers, Words and Pictures

BlackCat was a brand of Granada Learning, originally part of the ITV group. Numbers, Words and Pictures 2 was their flagship product, a suite of programs intended to teach IT skills children between seven and eleven years old.
